Owners consistently call the shot quality itself the payoff. Several describe it as making the best espresso they have ever had, or as the last espresso machine they expect to buy, with clarity and body they didn't get from prior machines.
The tradeoff owners name most is convenience: several who came from pod or automatic machines say they miss being able to just push a button, even while preferring the coffee the Robot produces.

In time, most owners land on a routine: one profile dialed in, adjusted mainly for temperature or bean type, rather than fiddling with every variable every time. The manual process itself (building pressure, watching preinfusion, timing the pull) stays enjoyable for people rather than becoming a chore; one owner two years in still finds the workflow enjoyable and says they're drinking espresso within two minutes of starting.
What people had to adjust to is the absence of a shortcut. A couple of owners are explicit that they sometimes wish for a button-push option on busy mornings, and that switching from a pod machine means giving up real convenience in exchange for better coffee and lower running cost. That's a trade they keep making, not a surprise.
The mechanical simplicity gets credit directly: owners point out there's little to break because it has no electrical components, and maintenance is described as minimal: light oil on a pin if it starts to creak, otherwise not much to do. One owner reports two years of regular use with no notable failures.
The long-term data here is thin. Most of what's reported is normal wear-item maintenance rather than failure, and the sample skews toward owners who are still early or mid-ownership. One account did report a build issue serious enough to prompt buying the machine as a replacement for something else that broke, so it's not spotless, but there isn't enough multi-year testimony yet to say much more than that.
