Espresso machines beta · Flair

Flair 58

Owners keep the Flair 58 for shot quality that rivals machines many times its price, accepting a manual lever workflow in exchange for control over the pull.

Beta. Fewer accounts than the vacuum pages and the subjects are still settling in. Read the counts, not the headlines.

N/A*

No owner ratings here yet. What is on this page is our summary of 86 public owner accounts from forum threads and video comments, written by us. None of it was posted to Still Kicks by an owner. The number arrives when owners rate it here, and comes only from them.

Praised most for shot quality (11 of the 13 who raised it).

What keeps coming up

Owners consistently say the shot quality holds up against high-end machines. Several report they wouldn't trade it even for a Decent or LMLM, and others who've owned multiple lever machines rank it as their favorite way to make espresso.

What keeps coming up against it

Build quality draws real complaints: two owners report breaking parts under normal use, one had a knob and steam control issue on a related Flair model, and one noted a plastic part that eventually snaps under the torque it takes.

Nothing with a clear majority yet. Owners who raised these subjects were split, or too few to judge.

Counted from the owners who raised each subject, not from everyone. Nobody wrote this list; these are the subjects owners kept bringing up on their own.

8 more subjects came up from fewer than 4 owners each, which is not enough for a fair reading. To see how it stacks up, compare it with another machine.

Life with it

After the first weeks, the workflow settles into a routine. Owners describe getting a full espresso from grind to cup in 5-7 minutes, and several have run it daily for years alongside a favorite grinder pairing like the DF64 or a hand grinder such as the 1Zpresso J Ultra. The lever pull itself stays the part people mention liking, even after switching to other machines and coming back.

The adjustment is mechanical: it's a hand-operated lever, not a push-button machine, so owners have to learn technique and accept some physical effort, especially grinding light roasts by hand. A few owners who tried other machines (Decent DE1) ultimately returned to the Flair 58 or kept both, citing the taste and the process itself as reasons to stick with it.

Reliability & repairs

What keeps working: the espresso quality itself doesn't seem to degrade with age. Owners cite years of daily use without complaints about output quality. Grinder pairings (DF64, 1Zpresso) hold up as reliable companions over the same stretch.

What breaks: build quality is the recurring weak point. Two owners each broke a unit from excess weight/torque and had to go through warranty, one plastic component is described as eventually snapping under stress, and a pivot clip on the leg fell off on one unit, making it pull crooked. Customer support gets mixed marks. One owner got a workaround (a pressure gauge) rather than a fix, and it took contacting the retailer to sort out the crooked-leg issue. The long-term failure accounts are thin (only a handful of owners describe actual breakage), so this is a real risk, but not a widely reported one.

Does it still kick?

The same owner, the same machine, asked again at each of these. It needs real owners answering a real follow-up, so it stays empty until they do. We are not drawing a line through numbers we do not have.

Where this came from

Counted by type. These are public discussions we read and summarised in our own words; none was submitted to Still Kicks, and none carried proof of purchase that we know of. The individual accounts are kept on file behind every claim; they are not reproduced here.

* N/A means we do not yet have enough data for a fair score. A rating appears once owners have rated this machine here. A subject is only judged once at least 4 owners have raised it; below that we show the count and not a verdict. Praised or Concerns means at least 6 in 10 of everyone who raised the subject leaned that way; anything less is shown as split, with the counts. Mixed means an owner said both good and bad things about that one subject.

Every figure here is counted from public accounts written by people who said they own the product, and summarised by Still Kicks in its own words. None of it was submitted here as a review, and nothing is a manufacturer claim, a lab test or an estimate. The accounts behind each claim are kept on file, not reproduced.

Owner ratings are the point. As they come in they become the page, and this baseline moves in behind them.
