Owners keep the Tab Ultra C as a working tablet for writing and reading, and the accounts we have describe years of daily use without hardware trouble.
One owner wrote every essay, exam and thesis of a humanities degree on a Tab Ultra C over three years and reports no hardware or software problems in that time. Another owner who has cycled through a long list of Boox devices, including the Tab Ultra C Pro, says the only one that ever broke was a different model, and that was their own fault.
No owner in our accounts raised a recurring complaint against the Tab Ultra C. The one physical failure mentioned in this theme (a cracked plastic corner about two years in, with no loss of function) was on a different brand's e-reader owned by the same person, not on this device.

Once it stops being a new gadget, the Tab Ultra C settles into being the place where written work gets done. The clearest long-term account comes from a student who drafted essays, sat exams and wrote a thesis on it across an entire degree, using a larger Boox for reading multi-column articles alongside it. For that owner it was less a device to admire and more the tool the degree ran on.
The other accounts come from people who own several e-ink devices at once and move between them. In that setting the Tab Ultra C line is one of several tablets in rotation rather than the single centrepiece, and nothing about it stood out to those owners as a problem worth noting.
What owners describe holding up is the whole device: screen, hardware and software, over three years of heavy daily writing in the most detailed account. Among a collector who has owned and sold many Boox tablets since mid-2024, none of the tablet-sized models broke; the single failure was cracked outer glass on a small pocket model, caused by the owner rather than the device, with the screen underneath still working.
We have to be plain that this is a thin record. Only three separate owners raised durability at all, and only one of them was speaking directly about the Tab Ultra C over a multi-year stretch. One account concerns a Pocketbook device, not a Boox, and another covers the Pro variant among many others. There are too few accounts to judge how this model holds up across owners, and no reports yet of what breaks on it or how people deal with it when it does.
