What is Still Kicks?

A place to find out whether a product is still worth owning after a year or two. Most reviews are written in the first week, when everything still works. We ask owners again later: two weeks, three months, six months, a year, two years. Does it still kick?

Where does the information come from?

Two places. Every page starts from public accounts written by people who said they own the product, which we read and summarise in our own words, with the number of accounts behind each finding. Then owners on Still Kicks add their own ratings and come back to re-rate. Nothing on a page is a manufacturer claim or a lab test.

Is it sponsored?

No. Nobody pays to be on a page, to move up a list or to change a word. If we ever add a link that earns a commission, it will say so next to the link, and it will not change what the page says or the order of anything.

Why no star ratings?

A single number hides more than it shows. People raise a subject more when it went wrong, so adding subjects up would punish the products owners talk about most. We show each finding on its own with the number of people behind it, and we show owner ratings only once real owners have given them.

What does "thin evidence" mean?

It means fewer than forty owner accounts stand behind that page. The page still says what those people said, and it says how many they are. We would rather show a small number than hide it. A category moves from beta to live only when at least eight of its pages have forty accounts or more.

How do I request a product?

Search for it. If we do not have it, the search page lets you tell us, and the request goes on our list. You can also use the contact form and pick "Product request".

A page got something wrong. How do I fix it?

Use the contact form and pick "Correction on a page". Tell us the product and what is wrong. A person checks the accounts behind the claim and corrects the page if it does not hold up. You can also write to [email protected].
