Decent de1

Owners keep the DE1 for espresso they can run one-touch on a weekday and dissect in detail on a weekend, and most say they would buy it again.

What keeps coming up

Every owner who gave an overall verdict said they would buy it again, and several described their shots as the best they have made after settling in with it. The only regrets raised were about which size to buy, not whether to buy.

What keeps coming up against it

The water tank is too small for people pulling several shots a day, and the drip tray fills just as fast. Owners on the standard size describe refilling nightly and wish they had bought a larger model or that Decent would redesign the tank.

Life with it

What still pleases people after months or years is how little the machine demands on an ordinary morning. Tap the screen and it is warm in a few minutes. One touch flushes, pulls a shot that stops itself, or steams milk, and several owners say a spouse or family member who has no interest in profiles uses it happily that way. The people who do want the data get every shot saved and the last one left on screen, phase by phase, and one long-term owner says the app has kept improving and now holds a large library of profiles they built themselves.

The routine that grinds is the tank and tray. Owners on the standard size refill most nights and empty the drip tray daily, and it comes up as the one thing they would change. The app itself divides people: some found the flow and pressure controls more than they needed and just settled on one profile, while others, including a legally blind owner who bought it specifically for full automation, consider that automation the whole point. Customer support is also divided, with one owner calling it excellent and another saying an email about getting into the community forum went unanswered.

Reliability & repairs

Reliability accounts are split rather than settled. On the positive side, one owner ran over 60 cups in a day with no trouble, another has used a DE1 Pro daily for 4 to 6 shots since last year without a single issue, and a third has had a DE1 Pro since 2019. On the other side, owners describe needing to debug the machine from time to time, mainly Bluetooth scale and tablet connectivity dropping out, and several who otherwise love it name that as their second-biggest annoyance after the tank.

When something does go wrong, owners lean on the Decent community forum, which they say is quick to help diagnose and fix problems. Beyond that, long-term accounts here are thin: a handful of owners with several years on the machine, most of them positive, and not enough hardware failure reports to say what breaks or when.
