Robot vacuums · Roborock

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra

Owners keep this for the combination of strong suction and good mopping on hard floors, tolerating a fussy app and hit-or-miss obstacle avoidance in exchange for a machine most call the best they've owned.

No owner ratings here yet. What is on this page is our summary of 107 public owner accounts from forum threads and video comments, written by us. None of it was posted to Still Kicks by an owner. The number arrives when owners rate it here, and comes only from them.

Praised most for suction power (6 of the 10 who raised it); the most common concern is reliability (6 of 10).

What keeps coming up

Overall satisfaction is praised: owners who've lived with it call it the best robot vacuum on the market and say they wouldn't go back, even when they flag smaller gripes elsewhere.

What keeps coming up against it

Reliability is a clear concern: several owners describe units failing within weeks to months of purchase, in one case going from flagship purchase to a dead unit inside three months, with mop cleaning and dirty water recovery cited as the failure point.

Counted from the owners who raised each subject, not from everyone. Nobody wrote this list; these are the subjects owners kept bringing up on their own.

7 more subjects came up from fewer than 4 owners each, which is not enough for a fair reading. To see how it stacks up, compare it with another machine.

Life with it

Once it's part of the routine, the suction and mopping keep doing the daily work well. Owners with pets and kids say they can't live without it, and the dual-roller design gets credited for handling carpet and hair better than newer, single-roller Roborock models. The corner-reaching mop tech and adjustable suction/mop power are the kind of details people still notice well after setup.

What owners adjust to is more mundane: refilling and dumping water every few days, and learning to route around cords, socks, and towels because obstacle avoidance is inconsistent. Accounts are split roughly evenly between owners who find it competent and those who say it still eats cords and struggles especially on carpet. The app draws similarly divided reactions: some find the SmartPlan room logic and mop-lift behavior between rooms smart once learned, others find the navigation and controls counterintuitive and never fully warm to it.

Reliability & repairs

Suction and carpet performance hold up well for most owners describing regular use, including one who's run it 1.5 years with a heavy-shedding dog. But reliability itself is a clear concern at the account level: multiple owners report failures well inside the first few months, with mop cleaning and dirty water recovery named as the specific breakdown, and customer support experiences afterward were often frustrating rather than reassuring. The same failure accounts describe support as unhelpful. The trade-in program drew only negative reports, with owners describing confirmed trade-in values followed by drawn-out, unresolved back-and-forth.

Long-term data past the 1.5-year mark is thin. Only one account speaks to multi-year use in detail, so it's hard to say yet how the unit ages once past the early-failure window that shows up in the complaints.

The same owner, the same machine, asked again at each of these. It needs real owners answering a real follow-up, so it stays empty until they do. We are not drawing a line through numbers we do not have.

* N/A means we do not yet have enough data for a fair score. A rating appears once owners have rated this machine here. A subject is only judged once at least 4 owners have raised it; below that we show the count and not a verdict. Praised or Concerns means at least 6 in 10 of everyone who raised the subject leaned that way; anything less is shown as split, with the counts. Mixed means an owner said both good and bad things about that one subject.

Every figure here is counted from public accounts written by people who said they own the product, and summarised by Still Kicks in its own words. None of it was submitted here as a review, and nothing is a manufacturer claim, a lab test or an estimate. The accounts behind each claim are kept on file, not reproduced.

Owner ratings are the point. As they come in they become the page, and this baseline moves in behind them.
