What lasts past the first weeks is the tinkering. Owners who came from locked-down readers describe treating the Android side as the point: sideloading a reader app, setting wider margins and a fuller font size, adding a chapter time estimate, debloating over ADB, and picking a case that suits how they use it. A large share say their reading volume and pace went up, with several counting books and pages they would not have got through on a phone.
Some things needed adjusting to. Battery life divides owners almost evenly: some find it fine, others spend effort working out what drains it when the device is idle. Display quality is also split, mostly around the colour panel, which one owner found so dark and grainy at first that they assumed it was broken before settling into black and white. Screen size is a mixed picture too, with seven inches being just right for some and a compromise for others.
