The DJI Mini 4K produces footage that surprises people given its size and price, but it carries no obstacle sensors, which owners discover the hard way.
The footage holds up well enough that owners editing in DaVinci Resolve have produced results others mistake for a more expensive camera. The quality-to-size ratio is the reason people keep flying it.
The Mini 4K has no collision sensors. When return-to-home triggers out of line of sight, the drone flies a straight path and hits whatever is in the way. Several owners lost their drone to exactly this.

Owners who put in editing time, even basic work in DaVinci Resolve, report footage that looks better than the drone's price suggests. Those who leave clips raw say they sit unwatched. The camera rewards effort.
Flying it becomes routine quickly. The size and weight make it easy to carry and launch anywhere. What does not become routine is managing the no-sensor reality in unfamiliar terrain. Owners who fly in open space report no issues. Those who fly near cliffs, trees, or structures say they stay manual and stay close.
Note: Long-term accounts for this product are thin. What follows is based on a small number of owners and should be weighted accordingly.
The drone itself appears to fly reliably under normal conditions. No owners flagged mechanical failures or software problems in day-to-day use. DJI Care Refresh came up as the practical response to crash risk, and at least one owner was waiting on a Care Refresh replacement before flying again.
What breaks this drone is the environment, not the hardware. The absence of obstacle sensors means a single return-to-home event in the wrong location ends the flight permanently. Owners treat Care Refresh as mandatory, not optional, for that reason. Beyond crash outcomes, there is not enough long-term data here to say how the motors, gimbal, or battery hold up over time.
