The M6 earns its place on desks where a side scroll wheel and high polling rate matter more than premium plastics, and most owners who weighed those priorities consciously are happy with the trade.
The free-scroll wheel works well for owners who use it for volume, navigation, or scrolling wide documents, and several owners describe it as the main reason they chose the M6 over heavier alternatives. For those who wanted out of Logitech's software ecosystem, the M6's web-based configuration does the job without an install.
The companion app has had a certificate expiry that blocked it from running on macOS entirely, and owners looking to remap buttons have run into it without warning. The web-based configurator works as a workaround for some, but the broken app is a real friction point.

Day-to-day, the M6 settles into routine quickly for owners who use it as a productivity mouse.
