Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

Owners here wear it every day and knock it about, and the few who talked about its screen mostly found it handles that well, with light scratches seen as normal wear.

What keeps coming up

On screen durability, one owner says their Galaxy Watch 5 Pro (the tougher sibling model) has no scratches after years of regularly hitting things. Another has a few scratches on a standard Watch 5 and doesn't see them as a problem. Too few owners raised this to give a verdict.

What keeps coming up against it

Also on screen durability: one owner's screen came out of the case overnight after they had cleaned it with alcohol wipes every few weeks. They blame the alcohol for weakening the adhesive. This is a single account, too few to call a clear complaint.

From the maker's spec page, checked October 10, 2026. A blank row means the maker does not state it.

What the specs mean

Plan on charging it about every day and a half, and more often if you keep the screen always on. A fast charger gets it to about 45% in 30 minutes. 5ATM and IP68 mean you can swim with it and wear it in the shower, but it's not for diving. It has its own GPS, so you can leave your phone at home on a run and still get your route.

Life with it

These accounts say little about daily use beyond the screen. What they do show is people wearing the watch through ordinary bumps and knocks without babying it, and treating the odd scratch as part of owning it, not a reason to replace it.

The main change one owner made was to their cleaning routine. After losing a screen, they now use plain cleaning wipes and say alcohol should be used once a year at most.

Reliability & repairs

One owner says the screen glass has resisted scratches for years of hard wear, though that watch is the Pro model. A standard Watch 5 owner has picked up minor scratches and the watch keeps working fine. The one failure reported is a screen that detached, which its owner puts down to frequent alcohol cleaning breaking down the glue. Their fix is to avoid alcohol and stick to gentler wipes.

The long-term evidence here is thin. Only a handful of owners talked about durability at all, one of them about a different model, and none of these accounts cover how the rest of the watch holds up over time. Treat this page as an early read, not a settled verdict.

What owners praise

Nothing with a clear majority yet. Owners who raised these subjects were split, or too few to judge.

Nothing has a clear majority against it yet. Counted from the owners who raised each subject, not from everyone. A subject is judged once at least 4 owners raise it.

7 more subjects came up from fewer than 4 owners each, which is not enough for a fair reading. To see how it stacks up, compare it with another machine.

Two questions: how long you have had it, and anything you would like to say about it. Then we ask again as it ages. This helps our mission.
