LG 65

Owners keep this 65 inch LG for its picture: true blacks and contrast that make other screens hard to go back to, at a price many decided was fair for what OLED delivers.

What keeps coming up

Picture quality is the clear praise, and it is the reason most owners bought it and kept it. Blacks, contrast and colour come up again and again, with several owners calling the step up from an older LG OLED a major upgrade rather than a minor one.

What keeps coming up against it

Owners are divided on screen size. Some found 65 inches the right fit for their room and viewing distance, while others say they would rather have gone bigger for movies, or wish they had thought harder about how much of their field of view the screen would fill.

What it is

"LG 65" is not a single product. It only gives a screen size, 65 inches, and LG sells many different 65-inch TVs (OLED, QNED and basic LED models from different years). Because of that, I can't say which product this is or who it is for.

What the specs mean

I left the specs blank on purpose. LG's 65-inch TVs differ a lot in panel type, refresh rate, HDR formats and inputs, so filling them in would mean guessing. With a full model number, such as OLED65C4PUA or 65QNED85TUA, I can read LG's own spec page and fill in this table.

Life with it

What still delights people after the first weekend is the same thing that sold them: dark scenes, menus on black backgrounds, and colour that holds up whether it is a film, a game or a stream running in the background. Gaming performance comes up positively more often than not, with owners playing a PS5 a few hours a week and finding nothing to complain about. Value is another point most owners are settled on. Several compare today's price to what OLED cost a decade ago and conclude they got a good deal, and a few who had wanted a Sony instead could not justify the difference.

The adjustments are about the room and the size. Brightness is praised on balance, but a meaningful share of owners give a mixed account: the picture pops in a dark room and less so in a bright one with windows, and a few say a QLED or Mini LED would suit a big bright living room better even if it cannot match the blacks. Screen size splits owners down the middle, with some content at 65 and others wishing they had stretched to a bigger panel. Refresh rate is also divided, with a minority of owners not satisfied with what they got.

Reliability & repairs

On longevity the accounts that exist are almost all positive. One owner ran an older LG OLED past twenty thousand hours with no burn in before passing it on, and another is still using a 2014 LG OLED and would not trade it. Burn in itself is a divided topic: most who raised it report none, but some describe menu elements burning in after repeatedly falling asleep with the TV on, and one owner with an older model says LG never addressed the burn in they got. Customer support is likewise split, leaning negative, though several of those accounts concern other brands rather than LG, so they say little about this set.

The long-term evidence here is thin. Only a small number of owners talk about years of use, and the burn in accounts are a small group with both outcomes represented. What can be said is that owners who avoid leaving static screens up for hours at a time mostly report no trouble, and those who did have trouble were often unhappy with how the warranty side went. Anything firmer than that would be guessing.

Counted from the owners who raised each subject, not from everyone. A subject is judged once at least 4 owners raise it.

145 more subjects came up from fewer than 4 owners each, which is not enough for a fair reading. To see how it stacks up, compare it with another machine.
