Owners keep the LG G1 as a big OLED for games and movies, where dark scenes and contrast stand out, and most who track panel hours say burn-in has stayed away with care settings on.

What still delights owners after the novelty passes is the picture in dark content. Several who came from IPS laptop or desktop screens say the difference in gaming is mostly visual: dark scenes no longer show a backlight glow, and a few describe specific games looking excellent on it. Not everyone agrees on how big the gap is; a minority say they struggle to see the difference from a decent IPS, and a couple argue that the before-and-after comparisons people post often start from poor IPS panels.
Size is the thing people adjust to. Owners with 42 and 48 inch panels talk about it being a lot of screen for a desk, being awkward for productivity work, and making cable management harder. Some settle into using it purely for games and movies and keep a smaller screen for other tasks. Cleaning becomes routine once people find a method: a clean microfiber with no edge stitching, either dry or lightly dampened with distilled water or high-percentage isopropyl, with the screen off, and no reused oily cloths. Brightness and black levels are both split, with some owners wanting more of each and others satisfied.
The longest-running accounts are encouraging. One owner has used the G1 as a main PC display since early 2022, past 13,000 panel hours, at roughly half brightness with the OLED care features on, and reports no uniformity problems or burn-in. The one wear that owner does report is pixels along the outer edge of the panel starting to die, while the rest of the panel keeps working. Another long-term owner ran heavy static sessions and sold the set with a clean greyscale photo. On the other side, a few owners describe burn-in on older LG OLEDs, particularly where the main content sits in the centre of the screen, and treat it as a matter of when rather than if. Customer support experiences are mixed, with roughly as many good as bad.
Long-term accounts here are thin. Only a handful of owners describe several years of ownership, and most of the burn-in discussion is people comparing habits and settings rather than reporting failures on this specific set. Edge pixel death appears in one account, and nobody describes a repair path for it. Treat the reliability picture as promising but based on few owners.
