Neato D8

Owners keep the D8 as an affordable robot vacuum that gets the floors done and resumes after recharging, accepting wandering navigation and a battery that struggles to finish big jobs on high power.

What keeps coming up

Nearly everyone who raised cleaning performance was positive: it does the job on floors and rugs, and the price and value themes lean the same way, with owners saying it fits their needs and budget.

What keeps coming up against it

Every account that raised obstacle avoidance was negative. Owners describe it driving around rooms for no clear reason, wedging itself under furniture, and repeating navigation habits they had already seen on older Neato models, so they do not expect a software update to fix it.

Life with it

Once the novelty passes, the routine is a robot that cleans well when it gets around the space, and owners who run it daily on already tidy floors are the happiest. The recharge and resume behaviour is quietly appreciated: it can go back to the dock partway through and pick up where it left off. The value themes are consistently positive, and the owners raising overall satisfaction were all glad they bought it.

The adjustments are navigation and noise. It wanders, sometimes gets stuck under furniture, and on high power it is louder than the older BotVac Connected. Battery life is divided: the stock pack is quoted by one owner at roughly 100 minutes, which some find enough and others find too short to finish a house on high power. A few owners fit larger third-party batteries to extend run time, knowing that voids the warranty. App usability is a clear complaint by the tallies, with more owners negative than positive, though the sampled comments do not spell out the specific failures.

Reliability & repairs

Reliability is divided. On one side, an owner running it in a relative's home reports weeks of trouble-free use, and another had a faulty unit repaired and returned by Neato and says it now works perfectly. On the other, one owner went through repeated store exchanges, each unit buggy and none completing a modest house, until the last one threw an internal sensor error and support declared it dead, asking whether it had been going under furniture. Customer support itself is evenly split: some got a fix, others were frustrated over how refunds and upgrades were handled. Build quality is split too, with no D8-specific detail in the sampled comments.

The long-term record here is thin. Most accounts cover the first weeks or months, not years, and several of the sampled comments in the support, app, build and sound themes are about other products entirely, so those counts should be read with caution. What holds up over time, and what wears out, is not something these accounts can yet answer.

What owners praise

Nothing with a clear majority yet. Owners who raised these subjects were split, or too few to judge.

Nothing has a clear majority against it yet. Counted from the owners who raised each subject, not from everyone. A subject is judged once at least 4 owners raise it.
