Owners keep the Roomba 705 for cleaning that surprised them on first use, a rolling mop they were happy with, and a body that has held up, while putting up with an app they like less than the old one.
Every account that gave an overall verdict was positive. One first-time robot vacuum owner said the 705 cleaned far better than expected and regretted waiting so long to buy one; another with heavy pet hair bought it specifically to add mopping after an older Roomba wore out.
Nobody had a good word for the app. Owners coming from the J7+ miss options the old app had, one says the new app needs a lot of work and the old one was better, and one UK owner watched the map vanish and then come back as a duplicate that had to be deleted.

What lasts past the first week is the cleaning itself. Owners who came from older Roombas or tested it against Narwal, Roborock and Mova machines put the 705 among the better ones at getting around objects, though that theme is divided: some say a J7+ kept a healthier distance from clutter, and the 705 gets closer to squeeze out more floor. The 3D maps are liked. Mopping is likewise divided. Several owners are happy with the rolling mop on hard floors, while others hit suds problems with the cleaning solution, or found debris jamming the dirty water tank so floors were left too wet and the dock threw an error.
The adjustments are mostly in the software and the dock. One owner running two 705s cut suds by turning off the automatic solution dosing and mixing a small amount of solution into distilled water by hand. Owners in the bag subscription found the app gauge said a third full while the bag was actually out. Battery life, carpet performance and customer support all come up with owners on both sides and no clear lean either way.
The accounts that speak to durability are all positive so far, and the strongest cleaning praise comes from owners several months in. What goes wrong tends to sit at the dock rather than the robot: dirty water not emptying, dock errors, and a bag gauge that does not match the bag. Suction is a concern for the few who raised it, with one owner tying weak pickup to debris backing up into the collection tank. Fixes owners describe are small: disabling auto dosing, cleaning out the tank, and deleting a bad map.
Long-term evidence is thin. Only a handful of separate owners spoke to durability, reliability or hair tangling, and the reliability accounts split evenly, so nothing here says how a 705 looks after a couple of years. A few of the comments the system attached to this product were about unrelated gear, so treat the smaller tallies with some caution until more owner accounts come in.
