What keeps coming up
Sound quality is the reason most owners bought and kept them. Several say the factory tuning needs an EQ pass, but once set, they rate the sound above Sony and Bowers & Wilkins rivals they have owned.

Owners keep the Momentum 4 for its sound and its long battery, and most who weighed the price say it was worth paying, even as they trade away stronger noise cancelling from rivals.

Build quality is the clear complaint: earcups peeling, headband cloth and pads breaking down with sweat, and hinge cabling that fails and takes a speaker with it. Some owners have gone through more than one pair under warranty.

The sound is what still delights people well past the first month. Owners who live in their headphones describe wide, detailed sound from the large drivers and keep coming back to it after trying other brands. Battery life is the other thing they stop worrying about, and most who mention the app like how much it lets them adjust.
What owners had to adjust to is the noise cancelling. Most who raise it say it falls short of Sony, and one who switched from an XM4 was surprised at how much better the older Sony blocked sound. Comfort is divided: some wear them all day, others find their ears pressed against the driver and get sore within an hour. Touch controls split owners the same way. On the whole, though, owners who sum up their experience say they are satisfied.
The electronics and battery mostly keep working. What breaks is the soft and moving parts: earcup covering peels, headband seams and pads fall apart under sweat, and hinge cable connections fail, in one account killing the left speaker. Firmware updates are a clear complaint, with owners describing glitches and ongoing issues after updates. Customer support draws criticism too: one owner with a buzzing left cup got only troubleshooting steps instead of a replacement, while others did get warranty swaps, sometimes more than once.
Long-term accounts are divided rather than thin. Some owners report around four years of use before an ANC fault sent them to the next model, and say they would have kept going otherwise. Others gave up after a third pair and moved to another brand. Those who bought close to the Momentum 5 launch regret the timing, and owners who compared the two mostly did not see enough of an upgrade to justify switching.
