Owners keep the G4 for a picture they say still looks as good as the newer models, bright enough for a sunlit living room, and several call it the best electronics purchase they have made.

Once it is on the wall, what people keep coming back to is contrast and depth. Owners who came from cheap LED sets describe the jump as huge, and one who worried OLED would be too dim found the G4 bright enough that the question no longer mattered. The routine that settles in is a brightness habit: around 80 in an afternoon room with sunlight, down to 20 at night. One owner runs it in a windowless basement theater and is happy there. The wide viewing angles get mentioned as something they would miss on a newer set.
The adjustments are small. The remote is the one thing a few owners actively worked around, usually by buying a different remote. Price is where accounts divide: one owner paid full price a week after launch and watched it drop heavily two years later, while others chased deep discounts on the 77 inch model and were pleased with what they got, sometimes waiting to see whether a retailer would honour a listed price. Several owners say the newer G5 or G6 did not make their G4 feel any less good in their own room, and one who bought the bigger G5 still calls the 77 inch G4 just as fine a TV.
What owners report keeping working is the panel itself. One has run a G4 for two years and around five thousand hours and describes it as still going strong. Others bought in 2024 and say they have no plans to replace their sets as long as the picture holds, with one intending to look again in about five years. Nobody in these accounts describes a failure on the G4; the only repair mentioned was on a different, older LG model that needed a main board.
That said, the long-term accounts are thin. Only a handful of owners spoke to durability at all, and most of them are one to two years in. There is nothing here yet on burn-in, panel wear, or software problems over a longer stretch, so treat the good early record as encouraging rather than settled.
