Samsung S90C

Owners keep the S90C as the OLED they stopped second-guessing: bright, vivid picture for films and gaming, with several saying it has run for years without a fault.

What keeps coming up

The picture is what wins people over. Owners describe vivid colour and surprising brightness for an OLED, and a few who tried Mini LED sets came back to OLED because of it.

What keeps coming up against it

No complaint recurs often enough to count as a clear concern. The sharpest dissent inside the picture quality accounts comes from an owner of the near-identical S89C who found the Tizen software buggy and slow next to an older LG, and the small remote prone to accidental presses, while still praising the picture itself.

Life with it

Once the set is in, the picture stays the point. Owners talk about how hard it is to go back to anything else after living with OLED, and one who owns several high-end OLEDs says the differences between HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision are small in practice, so the absence of Dolby Vision on this set is not something to lose sleep over. Gamers mention the 144Hz mode and pairing it with a PC as a console replacement.

The adjustments are mostly around the edges. The software and the small remote drew criticism from one owner. Burn-in comes up, but the owners who raise it treat it as manageable: one keeps HDR on permanently, another runs the set at modified maximum brightness and says only heavy static content over hundreds of hours is a real risk. One owner who also has a QD-OLED monitor thinks the monitor's colour accuracy edges the TV, even though the TV is brighter.

Reliability & repairs

The reliability accounts are positive. Several owners report two to three years of use with no issues, including with HDR on the whole time. One contrasts it with a Sony OLED that developed raised blacks that a software update could not fix, and says the S90C never had that problem. Nobody in this set describes a failed panel or a warranty swap on the S90C itself; the Samsung swap story in the comments concerns a different Mini LED model.

That said, only a handful of owners spoke to long-term durability, and the longest run reported is about three years. The picture is well documented; how the set fares past that point is not.

Nothing has a clear majority against it yet. Counted from the owners who raised each subject, not from everyone. A subject is judged once at least 4 owners raise it.
