Owners keep the C8K as a very bright, high-contrast big screen that holds its own against pricier sets, accepting some blooming on small bright details as the trade for the price.
Contrast is the clearest praise: owners describe solid blacks, and one who set an 85-inch C8K beside a friend's Bravia 9 preferred the TCL for both contrast and brightness. Even owners who prefer OLED say the picture is a great experience to watch.
Owners are divided on brightness. Some call it super bright and a strength over rivals; others find that OLEDs sitting next to it can look perceptually brighter because of their contrast, and one owner found 50 percent brightness painful in a dark room and settled around 20 to 25 percent.

Once the novelty passes, what people keep coming back to is the sheer light output and the punch of the picture, especially for those who also PC game on it. Owners who bought at a strong price say they would recommend it without hesitation and would consider the next TCL generation as their next TV.
The adjustments come in the dark room. One owner dialled the brightness far down to make it comfortable at night. Several who also own or have watched OLEDs notice blooming around subtitles and small bright objects, and whether that becomes routine background or a lasting distraction depends on the person. Those who came from a weaker full-array LCD find it a clear step up.
The accounts we have describe the picture, not failures. Nobody in this set reports a panel fault, a dead backlight zone, or a software problem, and one owner mentions not having noticed motion issues.
That said, long-term accounts are thin. Fourteen owners were labelled and none of the comments cover more than early ownership, so we cannot yet say how the backlight, dimming or software hold up over years. We will update this section as longer-term reports come in.
