Roborock S6

Owners keep the S6 as a vacuum that takes daily floor work off their hands for years, with mopping, carpet and battery results that vary from home to home.

What keeps coming up

Long service is the thing owners come back to: one ran an S6 for years as a vacuum only and rates it among the best purchases made for the house, and another got seven years before the main wheels gave out.

What keeps coming up against it

The app is the clearest complaint. More owners who bring it up are frustrated by it than pleased, and one notes that room-based mapping only reached the S6 well after launch. Dealing with Roborock support draws a similar reaction.

Life with it

What stays useful is the plain vacuuming. One owner puts it alongside the washing machine and dishwasher as the appliance that saves the most work, and only reaches for a regular vacuum now and then. Another has run it six months with nothing to report. Mopping is divided: some are happy with it, others skip it entirely, and one worked around the lack of a no-mop zone by drawing no-go zones over carpets on a separate stored map (the S6 can hold three).

Carpet performance is also divided. One owner accepts it is not at Roomba level but finds it passable enough not to worry about. Heavier debris is a noted weak spot. What people adjust to is the upkeep: a long-time owner of several Roborocks says nobody warned them these robots need regular hands-on cleaning, including the lidar window and camera area, and that skipping it causes most of the trouble.

Reliability & repairs

Most accounts on reliability and durability are positive, and several describe years of use. The failures reported are mechanical and late: main wheels disintegrating after seven years, and secondhand mentions of a main brush that stops spinning. One owner reports a much worse run, with repeated replacement units and an out-of-warranty main board and battery repair that failed again within a week. Battery life itself is divided, with as many unhappy as happy.

Long-term accounts are real but few. A handful of owners describe multi-year service in detail, and the rest of the picture on wear, batteries and repair comes from small numbers. Treat the seven-year figure as one owner's experience, not a norm.

Nothing has a clear majority against it yet. Counted from the owners who raised each subject, not from everyone. A subject is judged once at least 4 owners raise it.
